When water is actively sitting on floors, soaking into carpet, or pooling in a basement or crawlspace, the priority is simple: get it out before it spreads further and before secondary damage sets in. Water extraction is the first physical step in water damage mitigation — before drying, before repairs, before anything else can happen, the standing water has to be removed.
We respond to active water intrusion from burst pipes, appliance failures, storm and flood water, and sewage backups. Extraction equipment removes bulk standing water from floors, carpet, and hard-to-reach areas, reducing how much moisture has a chance to migrate into subfloors, drywall, and framing.
Removing the water you can see is only part of the picture. Water travels — under flooring, behind baseboards, up into drywall through capillary action. After extraction, we use moisture-detection equipment to check affected materials and identify where moisture has spread beyond the visibly wet area, so the drying plan that follows actually covers the full extent of the loss, not just what’s obvious at first glance.
Extraction removes bulk water, but materials that were saturated — carpet padding, drywall, subfloor — still hold moisture after the standing water is gone. That’s the difference between extraction and structural drying: extraction is the first step, drying is the process that actually gets the property back to a dry, stable condition. Skipping straight from extraction to repairs without proper drying is one of the most common ways water damage turns into a mold problem later.
We extract water in single-family homes, and we also respond to active water intrusion in commercial properties — offices, retail spaces, and multi-tenant buildings, where shared drainage systems and multiple affected units add complexity to the extraction process. For HOA and multi-family properties, we coordinate extraction across common areas and individual units as needed.

It depends on how long the water sat and what type of water it was (clean water vs. contaminated). In many cases carpet and padding can be extracted and dried; in others, saturated padding needs to be removed. We assess this on-site rather than assuming either way.
