4. Look for peeling paint (and repair it).
5. Visit your attic — look for water stains or other signs of moisture (there should be none).
6. If you have a sump pump, check that it is plugged in and working.
7. Check for pooled water under the house or in the basement (constant moisture can cause mold growth).
8. Check your washing machine and dishwasher hoses and connections (home flooding is often caused by cracked/broken hoses).
9. Check all of your water supply/shut off valves (toilets, sinks, machines that use water).
10. Do a thorough check of all your electrical cords to make sure none are worn, cracked, or otherwise damaged.
